The score was 2-0 in the Knights’ favor by the second inning. Glenvar’s Alyssa Blankenship tied it up in the bottom of the third inning by hitting a double and batting in two runs, evening the score at 2-2. In the fourth inning, James River’s Madison Rhodes hit a two-run homer, taking the score to 4-2.
In the top of the fifth inning, just before 5:30 p.m., a storm blew through, knocking over the plastic home run gate and sending fans and players alike running for shelter. Less than 30 minutes later, the sun was out over Botetourt Sports Complex.
The game is scheduled to resume at 8:30 p.m. tonight.
(Check out the two photos of the storm clouds just before they blew through the field – super cool cloud formations!)
