Editor’s note: Looking for community journalist in Salem
It is with bittersweet gratitude that I share some news. So Salem’s founding community journalist, Miranda Beck, will be leaving the publication next week to pursue a new career opportunity.
Over the course of more than four years, she has worked long hours and through many formats — words, photos, video, and even Tweets — to share Salem’s news. Those of us on staff will miss her, but we wish her all the best.
So Salem is now searching for a new community journalist. You can read more about the position in this listing. All applications will need to be submitted online.
This morning will be Miranda’s next-to-last set of office hours. Come see her at Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea between 9 and 11 a.m. and share what news is going on in your world!

Very bad news indeed, This is a great loss to Salem It’s people and it’s businesses.
We’re certainly going to miss Miranda-in her professional capacity and on a personal basis. She added a lot to the publication with her outgoing personality and sunny disposition. Thank you for sharing our lives on SoSalem and best wishes for your future! Love you! Barbara & Steve
