For her 12th birthday, Salem resident Tatum Hicks wanted to paint the pig with some friends. Tatum decided she needed her longtime friends Holly Thomas and Ashley Bulaski along to help out. Holly also recently celebrated her birthday, turning 12 on July 17 just five days before Tatum did on July 22. Although the girls were interrupted by a rain shower, they managed to finish the job and take several pictures. The night was completed by a sleepover attended by all three friends!

Photos: Scenes from Touch-A-Truck

Here are some scenes from Saturday’s Touch-A-Truck event in Green Hill Park, hosted by Roanoke County. Families strolled around while the sounds of honking filled the park, and kids got to clamber aboard ambulances, 18-wheelers, heavy equipment, buses, a hay ride, and much more.

As always, the firefighters’ foam was a popular part of the venue.

Do you have photos from your family fun at the event? Email news@sosalem.com.  We’d love to share it here.
