Route 612 bridge replacement to detour traffic in Roanoke County

Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 1, a section of Route 612 (Poor Mountain Road) in the Wabun area of Roanoke County west of Salem will be closed to replace the bridge over Branch Roanoke River.

The location of this work on Route 612 is less than a mile from the intersection of Route 639 (West River Road).

Detour signs are posted advising traffic of alternate routes. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and expect delays.

Weather permitting, Route 612 is estimated to reopen Aug. 3.
