WHAT:

Salem Terrace at Harrogate is teaming up with the Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia to host a “Breakfast of Champions” to inspire more kids to set goals and stay active. Cheek’s inspirational story begins when he was only sixteen years old when he set his goal to become a winter Olympic champion, an unordinary goal of a small town southern boy.

Olympic Speed Skater Gold Medalist Joey Cheek will be attending. Cheek is serving as the guest speaker for the 2012 Subway Commonwealth Games of Virginia  —main events taking place this year from July 20-22. His motivational speech at the breakfast is aimed at inspiring the two youth groups to stay active and follow their dreams. The Breakfast of Champions event at Salem Terrace is part of the Games’ kickoff events for the main events weekend.

In addition to Joey Cheek, representatives from Salem Terrace and Virginia Amateur Sports will speak.

Cheek will greet and sign autographs for children from the Boys Scouts of America Blue Ridge Council and Boys and Girls Club of Roanoke as well as faculty, staff and residents of Salem Terrace.
