HVMS principal moves to RCPS Central Office
The Roanoke County School Board has named Dr. Kenneth (Ken) Nicely as the new Director of Secondary Instruction/Technology for Roanoke County Public Schools. Nicely, who currently serves as the principal at Hidden Valley Middle School, will continue to act as HVMS principal until a new principal is selected. After the selection of a new principal, Nicely will assist the new principal during a transition period.
Nicely first joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 1993 as a Spanish teacher at Cave Spring High School. He taught at CSHS until 2002 when he was named an assistant principal at Hidden Valley Middle School. Nicely became the principal at HVMS in 2006.
Nicely holds a bachelor’s degree from William and Mary, a master’s degree from the University of Virginia and a doctorate from Virginia Tech.
“Ken has a great deal of experience at the secondary level, from the classroom to the principal’s desk,” said Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lorraine Lange. “I look forward to working directly with Ken to help ensure our students receive the best education possible from the best teachers,” Dr. Lange added.
