Photos: Annie Lin attends Rotary Club fireworks for July 4
Annie Lin of Salem shares these photos of Rotary Club fireworks for the Fourth of July and writes:
On July 3, 2012, the special event was Fireworks at Franklin County High School football field in Rocky Mount. The sponsor was The Rotary Club. There were fireworks, a concert, and awards for who had served our country.
I took my son, Jerry, and went there. It was our first time for the event. The door opened at 5 p.m. We carried lawn chairs and sat with people at the field. First, we saw “The Hollow Springs Band,” a family band (father, daughter, and son). I got a group picture with them. Second, they presented awards by Congressman Robert Hurt, and then the prize by 50/50 raffle. All of the beauty pageant contestants sold raffle tickets and picked the winner.
When I went around the field, someone called my name “Annie, Where is Jerry?” I said, “In the front, close to the stage.” That was a crowd of people, and then we saw Boy Scouts at the field where they sang “The Star Spangled Banner.” Before the fireworks, they shot the T-shirts and giveaways into the crowd. I was lucky to use my giant American hat and caught one. After the dark, the fireworks began, and a crowd of people enjoyed the finale very much.
