Roanoke College cancels proposed land swap with city of Salem
Roanoke College is pulling out of a proposed land swap with the city of Salem, two weeks after some residents brought concerns about the deal to the city council.
The land swap would have given the college a much-needed parking area and the city a prime residential lot on Broad Street to sell. However, college officials notified city manager Kevin Boggess that they were withdrawing their proposal.
Ralph Berrier of The Roanoke Times has more on this story.
