Roanoke County Public Schools are back in session starting today, Tuesday, Aug. 21
School buses are back on the road starting today, Tuesday, Aug. 21, as Roanoke County Public Schools are back in session. We have photos as buses are seen leaving Fort Lewis Elementary School on Tuesday afternoon.
Students could be seen waiting for buses throughout the area this morning, ready for the new school year, and police are patrolling more diligently around school zones. Roanoke County Public Schools and Salem City have both issued tips for safe driving around school buses. School will resume in Salem on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Too bad that Tuesday was the last first day of school at Fort Lewis. Fort Lewis will be closed at the end of this school year by the county as a cost cutting budget measure.
