Tonight’s football forecast: Warm night, thin chance of quick rain
High school football kicks off tonight — for Glenvar, at least. The Highlanders open on the road at Galax at 7 p.m.
Salem has a bye week, and doesn’t start play until next Friday.
Weather journalist Kevin Myatt has this forecast:
Friday night’s weather will be about as typical as it gets for late August in the Roanoke and New River valleys. Highs in the low to mid 80s, falling into the 70s during the game, perhaps upper 60s in more outlying areas. There is a thin chance of a few passing showers or even a localized thunderstorm, but most spots will stay dry, and any rain should pass quickly.
