U.S. Kids Golf Roanoke Fall Tour set to kick off

Trey Joyce & Owen Bright

The U.S. Kids Golf Roanoke Fall Local Tour will kick off Saturday, August 25 @ Blue Hills Golf Club. Throughout the fall, U.S. Kids Golf will head to nine of the finest courses in the Piedmont.

U.S. Kids Golf Local Tours provide boys and girls, ages 5 to 14, the opportunity to advance their golf skills in age-appropriate competition without having to take the time and incur the costs of having to travel long distances.

“The U.S. Kids Golf Local Tour is a great opportunity for kids of all abilities to play in a competitive environment,” said Tommy Joyce Director of the Roanoke Local Tour. “The golf course is a great place for kids to learn valuable lessons that will help them throughout their life.”

Similar to the PGA Tour, players at U.S. Kids Golf events are encouraged to have caddies to help them play their best. Allowing caddies is a special component of our tournaments and is part of our commitment to encouraging family interaction that builds lasting memories.  Players age 8 and under must have a caddie at all times.

The top five finishers in each age group will receive priority status from U.S. Kids Golf, granting them priority registration for major events. The Player of the Year in each age group will receive green status, the highest level awarded, which results in an invitation to the World Championship, held each year at Pinehurst Resort.  Four of our local tour  players recently competed in the US Kids World Championship in Pinehurst.  Vince Wheeler, Christopher Zhang, Owen Bright and Trey Joyce.
