Political parties stand out despite booth ban at Olde Salem Days

The crowd at Olde Salem Days on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.

Rep. Morgan Griffith’s office on Main Street replaced the event’s political booths banned by the Rotary Club of Salem

As he passed a cluster of Republican candidates, Reggie Arthur accepted stickers bearing the names of GOP candidates and wore them on his shirt as he strolled down Salem’s packed Main Street.

He was one of thousands of people Saturday attending the 32nd annual Olde Salem Days.

Duncan Adams of the Roanoke Times has more on this story.
