Fire damages house in Salem
The Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a structure fire at 1724 Starview Dr. [Wednesday] evening at approximately 8:26 p.m. No one was at the house when the fire started, and the homeowners arrived home to find heavy black smoke and flames coming from the structure. No one was injured during the fire.
The first units arrived within six minutes of receiving the call and found heavy smoke coming from the building. Crews found a fire inside of the structure, and were able to contain it within 20 minutes of their arrival. The home did sustain fire damage in one room and moderate smoke damage throughout the house.
Approximately 21 personnel from the Salem Fire & EMS Department (Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Tower 1 & Medic 803), Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department (Air 9) and the Salem Rescue Squad (Squad 1) responded to the call.
The fire remains under investigation by the Salem Fire Marshal’s Office and there is no damage estimate at this time.
