Part of Poor Mountain Road will be closed for a week starting Oct. 19

Beginning Friday, Oct. 19, at 8 a.m. a section of Route 612 (Poor Mountain Road) in the Wabun area of Roanoke County west of Salem will be closed to replace the bridge over a Branch of the Roanoke River.

The location of this work on Route 612 is less than a mile from the intersection of Route 639 (West River Road).
Detour signs will be posted advising traffic of alternate routes. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and expect delays.
Weather permitting, Route 612 is expected to reopen Sunday, Oct. 21.
