Roanoke Rapids brings new girls’ lacrosse program to Salem

Salem has a new girls’ lacrosse program, which will begin its inaugural season this summer.

Roanoke Rapids will host two low-cost lacrosse clinics in October. Maggi Pace, executive director of Roanoke Rapids, shares the following information about the clinics:

Roanoke Rapids Developmental is committed to developing young lacrosse players through detailed and individualized instruction. Our coaching staff is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of the game in a motivating and fun environment.

Roanoke Rapids is anything from a summer lacrosse developmental program to the Elite player who wants to continue on with the game for girls in 3rd through 12th grades. The inaugural season will begin this summer with plans for expansion each year. The goal is to work with these girls throughout their elementary, middle and high school careers to ready them for college play or just to become fundamentally strong at the game of lacrosse.

The Club will launch with two very low cost Clinics in the month of October which will be available for girls from 3-12th grade regardless of experience!

Clinic dates are Saturday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $20 per session. The clinics will be held at Elizabeth Campus of Roanoke College (the fields near the YMCA). Registration is easy online at www.midwesternforcelacrosse.com, click on events sign up, create a new user and select Roanoke clinic for either Oct. 6 or Oct. 27. Some loaner sticks will be on hand and all players will need a mouth guard.

There are travel options for elementary, middle and high school leagues.

This program is being coached by Roanoke College head coach Mary Schwartz and assisted by Pace. Information will be on hand for future opportunities for girls of all ages. For more information, email Pace at maggi.pace@gmail.com or call her at 540-521-3764.
