I coach the U16 Boys Green team for Valley AFC Soccer Club.

This past weekend [Nov. 10-11] the boys won the Capital Fall Classic Soccer Tournament in Richmond. To do it, they defeated a team from Williamsburg, a team from Pennsylvania and a team from the Virginia Beach area. Then they had a rematch against the Pennsylvania team for the tournament Championship, and we won it 5-2.

The team has players from Southwest Roanoke County, North County, and three from Salem as well as players from Glenvar area and Blacksburg.

The team is also league champions winning all eight league games in the Skyline League.

Salem team members are Hayden Helm (who scored four goals in the championship match and one in the semi-final match), Coby Reed (who scored a goal in the semi-final match) and Mason Brooks. Glenvar members are Cory Thomson (who also scored in the semi-final and in the championship match) and Cody Woolwine (not pictured).
