Cari Abner of Salem to write for Ferrum College’s Panther Blogs
Cari Abner, of Salem, was recently selected to be a student blogger for the Ferrum College Admissions Office Panther Blogs. The Panther Blogs were created in spring 2012 so that prospective students could hear from current students about their firsthand experiences at Ferrum College. Representing a variety of topics from academic programs to Greek life, athletics to student life, study abroad to outdoor activities, the Panther Blogs exudes its motto “Real students. Real experiences.”
“Research shows that hearing from current students plays an important role in a prospective student’s college decision, particularly if the student is on the fence between two choices,” explained Letisha Houston, Communications Coordinator in the Admissions office at Ferrum College. “The Panther Blogs give us an opportunity to connect prospective students with our current students through social media while simultaneously representing multiple aspects about Ferrum.”
Student bloggers are selected based on an interview process, which follows their recommendation by a Ferrum College faculty or staff member. Bloggers write about every three weeks, or more frequently if they choose to do so. “The College is thrilled to have Cari as a Panther Blogger,” said Houston.
