Kroger and partners with Feeding America Southwest Virginia to conduct food drive in Roanoke this weekend

Kroger is partnering with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and WDBJ7 to conduct a food drive Friday and Saturday.

Kroger will put a large trailer in the parking lot of the Kroger store at Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke to collect food donations. Volunteers from Kroger, Feeding America and WDBJ7 will load the donations onto the trailer, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“We are asking Kroger customers and the public to bring three items,” says Allison McGee, spokesperson for Kroger. “Two of the three items will go to the relief effort for victims of Hurricane Sandy and the third will remain in the Roanoke region for Feeding America Southwest Virginia.”

Feeding America Southwest Virginia distributes food to non-profit food pantries, rescue missions, shelters, soup kitchens and elderly care facilities.

For more information, contact McGee at 563-3629 or Allison.mcgee@kroger.com.
