Photo: Eagle Court of Honor for Troop 449
On Sept. 20, Troop 449 held an Eagle Court of Honor for Tyler Haynie, Benjamin Reynolds and Walker Wade.
Haynie has earned 22 Merit Badges. His Eagle Scout project included designing, organizing and constructing Trophy Shelves in the Choir Room at Glenvar High School. He managed over 50 people as they built and installed the shelves and also organized over 700 pieces of music and 3 closets of costuming and robes. Haynie would like to thank Doug Morris, Dan Dutton, Tim Wade, Eric Vest, Bob Haynie, Ted LeNeave, Scout Troop 449, Rene Dutton, Bridget Powell, Terry Haynie, Glenvar Vocal Ensemble Members, other classmates and football teammates, and Joe Hafey, principal at Glenvar High School.
Reynolds has earned 21 Merit Badges. For his Eagle Scout project, he organized, managed and participated in building a map kiosk on the Greenway trail at Colorado Street and East Riverside Drive in Salem. The kiosk was designed to be a trail guide for the Greenway, as well as an informational posting site for what types of wildlife to look for in the area. It will serve as a place to post community events information. Benjamin would like to thank Scout Troop 449, Keith Reynolds Sr., Ben Tripp, city of Salem, Jay Powell, Lisa Reynolds, Steve Deuterman, Dixon Lowe, Valerie VanderHoeven, Salem Montessori School, Bill Brown of Aztec Rental, Bob Rotanz of Mac & Bob’s, Daniel Deaver, Dan Dutton, Noah McDaniel, Kirk Wohlford, Ted LeNeave and Calvin Reynolds.
Wade has earned 26 Merit Badges. His Eagle project was to install a bike rack at Salem High School, so the students would have a secure place to store their bikes. This included clearing the location, securing the bike rack in concrete and installing two concrete pads. Walker would like to thank Scout Troop 449, Joe Havens, Joe Havens Jr., Keith Reynolds, Bill Brown, Aztec Rental, The Loop Group and T&C Distributing LLC.
