Harley the Biker Dog and his dad, Larry Groah, and Robert Lafferty stopped in the Glenvar area at Slap Daddys to visit friends Carolyn Jackson, Karen Crawford and Charlotte Hale after a 1,200-mile bike ride. Harley has become quiet the celebrity in our Roanoke Valley and in his hometown of Waynesboro. He has been featured in many biker magazines and does charity rides for people with a need. Harley also visits nursing homes and has been featured on the cover of the Roanoke Star. Harley rides secured to a leather starp that is attached to a harness, and he perches himself on his dad’s arm and rides. When he gets tired he snuggles inside his dad’s jacket. His dad, Larry, and his wife, Grace, rescued him as a baby for Harley was born with a cleft palate, and most pups are put to sleep when born this way. After a lunch from Slap Daddys and many pictures with the wait staff and owner Stacey Rippee they headed to visit a friend’s farm before heading home to Waynesboro.
