Virginia Tech’s Order of the Gavel inducts Caroline Doss of Salem
Caroline Doss of Salem, a junior at Virginia Tech majoring in fine arts in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, has been inducted into the university’s Order of the Gavel.
The Order of the Gavel is an honor society with both undergraduate and graduate student members who serve as leaders of major student organizations.
The honor society supports student leadership development and intellectual and personal growth. Through partnerships with students, faculty, staff and alumni, the order develops relationships that promote positive leadership development.
In 1984, Virginia Tech Vice President for Student Affairs Sandra Sullivan founded the order, believing the university should recognize and celebrate the value of student leaders. The Order of the Gavel has grown from an honor society representing 13 undergraduate student organizations to an order of 25 undergraduate and graduate student members from governance, media, leadership, the Corps of Cadets, and programming organizations.
