Griffith issues statement on Liberty Medical layoffs

Rep. Morgan Griffith

Liberty Medical in Salem announced Tuesday it’s laying off 200 people. Rep. Morgan Griffith, R-Salem, issued this statement:

“News of layoffs is unwelcome at any time of year. Jobs continue to be the top concern in Virginia’s Ninth District, and I’m deeply concerned by this announcement and the impact it will have on so many families.
“Let us hope that the New Year will bring about better economic policies. I will do what I can to promote policies that will help create jobs for the hard-working people of our area.
“Those individuals impacted by the job losses can contact my Christiansburg office at 540-381-5671 for possible assistance and a resource packet that contains helpful information and tools.”
