Holiday lights: 5,000 lights set to music on Kessler Mill Road

The Roanoke Times is once again inviting people with big displays of Christmas lights to enter them in an online database of the best and brightest in Western Virginia.

And this year, there’s a twist: A contest!

Enter by December 5 and become eligible. We have details here and the complete list of lit-up locations here.

Among those is one from Salem:

Display owner: Jay Boggess
Address: 1060 Kessler Mill Rd. , Salem , VA 24153
What visitors will see: My display is roughly 5000 lights on 16 channels of computer control to music. This is my first year using LOR software and I have programmed about seven songs so far and am currently working on more sequences. Sequences are of traditional Christmas music as well as some mixes that include Christmas themed electronica. Music it not transmitted over FM as of yet so be sure to roll your window down! This picture does not do my display justice video would be much better. Enjoy!
Display times: 530PM-9PM M-F 530PM-10PM F-S Computer controlled
