Holiday lights: A tribute to soldiers on Palmer Avenue

The Roanoke Times is once again inviting people with big displays of Christmas lights to enter them in an online database of the best and brightest in Western Virginia.

And this year, there’s a twist: A contest!

Enter by December 5 and become eligible. We have details here and the complete list of lit-up locations here.

Among those is one from Salem:

Display owner: Paul Yen
Address: 834 Palmer Ave , Salem
What visitors will see: a group of soldiers in tribute to our troops serving overseas, the North star and lamb for baby Jesus, dazzling lights snowflakes, snowmen, Santa, Elves plus more
Display times: from 5pm thru 10 pm
