Lin, Wu Fired Up for a Cure
On Saturday, September 22. 2012, my son, Jerry Wu and I went to the Roanoke Civic Center for “Fired Up For A Cure” event. The sponsors were WSLS10, Parks and Recreation, Roanoke City Fire Dept. and EMS.
Jerry wore a pink T-shirt, I wore all-pink stuff from top to bottom even a pink poodle toy. When we arrived at the parking lot of the Roanoke Civic Center, we saw cars all over the place. There was a crowd of people there. At the entrance, we saw pink T-shirt Firefights, and had pictures taken with them, then we saw vendor booths around the parking lot, and we walked into the stage area, where Zumba began. I enjoyed Zumba with men, women, and children to support “Fired Up For A Cure”. After Zumba, Tiffany gave awards to 5K and 10K winners, sponsors and Firefights…
I told Tiffany that I would like to do my Tai-Chi demonstration here. She said “You may wait until after awards”. I said “Thank You”. I enjoyed giving my performance even though most of the crowds had already gone.
The event also had a free food give away. We went inside of the Roanoke Civic Center to get tickets and picked up the free food (pizza or hot god, pop corn, and drink).
Through the event Tim said “Hi” to Jerry. He is a police man at Fallon Park Elementary School. Jerry works as Cafeteria aid there. We had a group picture taken.
I saw WSLS 10 news coverage. Jerry and I were on the small area behind Zumba dancer.
Jerry and I really enjoyed the event, we met new friends, Tiffany, Brandie, and Tim. I had a ton of pictures, See!!! Most Pink!!! A pink fire truck, police car, pink firefights. the event is a beneifit to Every Woman’s Life and The American Cancer Society.
