This just in from the Roanoke County police on the case of the search for a missing man in western Roanoke County:
This is a follow-up to the News Release earlier this afternoon concerning a missing person from Farmville, Va., William Hairston.
A ground search of the Fort Lewis Mountain area was initiated in an effort to locate Mr. Hairston. Members of the Roanoke County Police Department, Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department, and the Virginia State Police were brought in to assist in the search. Shortly after 5:00pm, a county police officer, Detective Eric Chidester, spotted Mr. Hairston in a wooded area on the mountain. Mr. Hairston was alive. Mr. Hairston was brought to county Rescue workers and transported to an area hospital to be checked.
Mr. Hairston’s family has been notified.
