Picture of Roanoke College gets a new owner in Congress

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (left) passes on the artwork to Rep. Morgan Griffith (right)

Redistricting doesn’t just change political lines.

Last week, it moved a piece of artwork.

Since 1977, a picture of Roanoke College has hung in the congressional office of the congressman representing Salem — first Caldwell Butler, then Jim Olin, and until recently, Bob Goodlatte.

However, with the most recent congressional redistricting, Salem has now moved into the 9th District, represented by Morgan Griffith.

So last week, with the start of a new Congress, Goodlatte passed on the artwork to his colleague. Griffith’s office shares this photo of the handover.

I sure hope Rep. Griffith helps with trimming the deficit some–just a thought…
