Photo: Salem woman in Pennsylvania stage production
When Dr. Fred and Carolyn Eichelman’s missionary son Fred and family moved to the Salem area, next to Glenvar High School, it added to the community’s population of stage performers. Their granddaughter Annie Eichelman has been recruited by the Sight and Sound Conservatory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Sight and Sound has been putting on Broadway style productions based upon the Bible for years and now has a new drama school that covers every phase of stage work.
Annie, a Freshman at Asbury University, was sought after she had the lead as “Dolly” in Hello Dolly her senior year in high school and had to go through an intense period of auditions in competition with other students from across the nation. This year’s production, in which she will be in the chorus and also serve as an understudy, is Noah. Past productions by Sight and Sound include Jonah, In The Beginning, Joseph and Ruth. Their productions run through the calendar year and their 2,000 seat theater is usually jam packed for every performance as bus loads of attendees come in from across the East Coast.
