Thank you so much, dear Michele! Of course I remember you and your terrible loss of your son. I'm glad that you are connected with Compassionate Friends (another friend recommends it too).

I have another commitment for the day of the Walk, but will definitely spread the word.

Hugs, walk strong, and thanks again for writing and thinking of us in our sadness. Please know that I continue to remember yours as well,
Emily
p.s. I rarely have a chance to check the site, so I'm especially grateful to have found this!

Hi Emily,
It's been a couple months since I read your article about your brother, Bobby, sadly knowing how you as his sister must be profoundly missing your " younger and only sibling."

And your parents must be devastated! “No parent should have to bury a child, no matter how old." I remember a long ago visit to your parent's home with Mom Alice sharing lemonade I think and showing me some of her doll collection if I remember correctly. Do I recall beautiful flowers just beyond her back door?

I'm Michele, Joey Moldenhauer's wife, and you might recall we lost our son, Conrad, in December 1997. His sister, Ingrid, was just in her first year of art school at VCU while Max was only 16 years old. They still miss their brother especially as they've become adults and could have enjoyed Conrad's company so much.

We've never been quite the same, but have come a long way with the love and ongoing support of The Compassionate Friends (TCF). The local Roanoke Valley chapter that I helped charter some 12 years ago, had its origin as a parent grief support group under the auspices of Carilion. But TCF has a broader reach — reaching out to siblings, grandparents, and other family members and friends, as well as, parents.

I wanted to invite you and your family to join us for our upcoming Compassionate Friends WALK TO REMEMBER on Saturday, May 11, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Green Hill Park, Shelter #2. We'll be walking to remember and celebrate the lives of the children of all ages — gone too soon — whom we still love and miss. That's the day before Mother's Day, a fitting time to gather to cherish our memories and love for our children, siblings, grandchildren, and other family members and friends.

Perhaps you could start a team for your brother, Bobby, — and help us spread the word about this memorable walk. Feel free to e-mail me for more information about the walk or about our group.

Hugs, Michele
