Fame All Stars Roanoke moving to new location in Salem
Fame Allstars Roanoke, one of several competitive cheerleading gyms in the Fame Allstars family, will soon be moving to a new permanent location in Salem.
Currently renting a temporary space at 3443 Aerial Way Drive in Roanoke, the gym will expand to an 8,000 square foot space at 1701 Midland Road in Salem, according to co-owner and president Jana Williams.
Williams says they’re working on finalizing the lease, but she’s hoping for a move date of Friday, March 1. The Midland Road building was affected by zoning issues, but City Council gave final approval at their meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 29. (See the agenda from that meeting here.)
The new location will feature 800 square feet of office space with a whopping 7,200 square feet of gym space for the competitive cheerleaders, who range in ages from three to 25, according to Williams.
“We like to give our littlest [cheerleaders] as much attention as our biggest, because they’re our future,” Williams said.
About half of those littlest cheerleaders stick with the gym through the high school and collegiate levels, according to co-owner and cheer director Katie Kidd, and their numbers are growing.
“We’re tickled. This year we’re getting a lot of Minis,” Williams said, referring to the “Mini Glitter” team for the youngest of cheerleaders.
“It’s like every kid in the valley has been here,” Kidd said.
For anyone thinking about joining the team, Fame Allstars Roanoke will host an Open House and Tumbling Camp at their new location on Saturday, April 13, from noon to 2 p.m.
