Migliarese signs with Lenoir-Rhyne University soccer
Salem High School senior Kim Migliarese signed an athletic agreement with Lenoir-Rhyne University Feb. 11. She has committed to play Division II Women’s Soccer at Lenoir-Rhyne.
An agreement was signed in SHS Principal John Hall’s office. Her parents Tim and Kristine Migliarese, siblings Megan and Anthony Migliarese, along with Principal Hall, girls soccer coach Josh Jones and assistant girls basketball coach Mike Gibson were in attendance for the signing.
Lenoir-Rhyne first approached Kim at an ID soccer camp last summer. Her family was very excited for her, but wanted to make sure that Lenoir-Rhyne was the right choice, not only athletically but academically as well.
“I was a little shocked and afraid. Most people don’t get this opportunity. I grasped it with open arms,” Kim said.
Kim has been playing soccer since she was 5. She has dedicated time on the weekends for travel soccer in addition to practice time after school. Kim doesn’t seem to mind the sacrifice.
“It cuts into my social time, but it’s worth it to get a scholarship,” Kim said.
Kim has played on Salem’s varsity soccer team since she was in 9th grade. She is currently the team captain. She also played on the girls varsity basketball team.
