On August 15, 2012, at approximately 12:58 a.m., officers from the Salem Police Department responded to the 7-11 convenience store located in the 1700 block of E. Main St. in reference to a reported armed robbery.
When the officers arrived, they were advised by the store clerk that a masked man had entered the store brandishing a handgun. The suspect demanded money from the clerk and fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency.
After a subsequent investigation conducted by the Salem Detective Division, 44-year-old Timothy Boyd of Salem was arrested on January 22 and 43-year-old Sean Stump of Salem was arrested on January 25. Both men have been charged with Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and are being held in the Roanoke County/Salem Jail without bond.
