Wilson (Ryan) Broadwell, senior at SHS, is working this summer as a crewmember at Wilderness Road State Park in far Southwest Virginia, near Cumberland Gap, with Virginia State Park Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program.
Crews live in the park for three weeks, with work projects in the daytime, and environmental education and adventure opportunities during evenings and weekends.
Crewmembers work and live as a team. This year at Wilderness Road, the crew will be rebuilding Virginia Rail fencing, barbed wire fencing, rock and gravel trails and paths, and fixing / building Primitive Fort Log fencing at Martin’s Station.
