Green Ridge Recreation Center is hosting its fourth annual Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors will have the option to bring five nonperishable food items to receive free admission to the event.
Fall Fest is the kickoff event for the Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism fall food drive, which donated over 800 pounds of food last year during the months of October and November.
Collected food items will be donated to RAM House, the Roanoke Valley’s day shelter. RAM House provides hot, nutritious noon meals every day for needy men, women, children, the elderly and veterans. Last year RAM House served more than 45,612 meals in our area.
Regular admission to the Fall Fest without a food donation is $5, with a maximum family admission of $20. Green Ridge members are admitted free. Event admission also includes use of the facility during the event, including the indoor pool, wellness center and activity room.
Fall Fest will feature family games and activities, crafts, inflatable games, bounce houses, balloon twisting, face painting and a magician. Friendly Halloween costumes are welcome at the event, and there will be a costume parade at 3 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase.
