Linda Markham, president of “Moss in the Valley,” a local chapter of the P. Buckley Moss Society, presented a check in the amount of $2,700 to Joy Parrish, executive director of the West End Center for Youth on Nov. 19. Parrish graciously accepted the check and stated that this donation will be used to help with the center’s continued nurturing and development of at-risk children with limited resources.
The “Moss in the Valley” Chapter raised these funds through raffle-ticket sales. The first prize was a Remarque “Mountain Homestead” Moss print, which was donated by the Moss Society’s Charity Print Program. Framing was graciously donated by Mary Ann Warren of Graphics, Etc., located on Electric Road, SW, Roanoke. The second prize was a beautiful, queen-size quilt, “Not Just Another Feathered Star,” designed and donated by Don Bunce.
Raffle winners were drawn Nov. 19. First-prize winner was Gail Correll of Roanoke, and Paul Langston of Roanoke was second-prize winner.
The purpose of the Moss in the Valley Chapter is to help promote children’s philanthropic activity on behalf of P. Buckley Moss and to foster awareness and enjoyment of the art of P. Buckley Moss as well as to assist in her local appearances.
