If you happen to notice a plethora of honeymooners in and around Salem this weekend, it's because a mass renewal of vows took place Wednesday at Fellowship Community Church. At this month's "1st Wednesday" dinner, wedding cake and a flowery portico set the mood, and the couples recited traditional vows together, kissed, and were congradulated by the rest of the congregation. "I've done it on an individual basis but not as a church family," said Pastor Ken Nienke. It was all part of an eight week series called "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" focusing on marriage, parenting, and variety of other issues concerning the family. A few weeks ago, Patrick Henry Hughes, a blind wheelchair bound musician who plays in the University of Louisville School of Music Marching and Pep bands with the help of his father, visited and spoke to the congregation in Salem. Hughes has appeared on ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition and various talk shows. Here's a link to an ABC News article on Hughes.
