NTelos plans to open new stores
I have a news tidbit about Keagy Village, a retail center under construction in Southwest Roanoke County that’s far behind schedule. In addition to Bonefish Grill and Scottrade, the center is getting an nTelos store.
A spokesman for nTelos, a wireless service provider, told me this week that the Waynesboro-based company is landing a store at this retail center at the corner of Keagy and Electric roads.
There's still no word on an anchor store for Keagy Village. Also, I've reported that Starbucks has axed its plans to land at the center.
NTelos is coming to another retail center that’s in the works in the Bonsack area of Roanoke County. Kroger is landing its largest area store at this center, named Kroger Square at Bonsack.
Some other shops will be headed there as well. Find out which ones are coming in my retail column in this Sunday’s Business section.

Other JohnThat's sad about how Keagy Village has sort of fallen apart. I remember hearing that it was going to be anchored by a Martin's, which when they pulled up is probably why Starbucks left too, since I'm sure they want traffic volumes to support their business. I can't help but think had the developers and VDOT worked more quickly for resolution of various issues surrounding the project, that it might have gone off on time and with the original tenants in mind.

GregA little while back I asked if you new why the proposed Arby's on Plantation near Gander Mountain had been pulled. I think I have the answer now. The owners have submitted plans to the county to build the Arbys in the new Kroger complex at Bonsack.

Mary AnnJenny, what is the status of Bonefish Grill at Keagy Village? I recently e-mailed Bonefish direct and the reply was that there is no current plans for a Bonefish in VA. Can you shed a little light on this. Was really looking forward to seeing it happen - great restaurant! Mary Ann

JennyMary Ann, That's interesting that Bonefish Grill told you there is not a local restaurant planned. I've called Bonefish, and they're checking on the status of the planned Roanoke location. I'll let you know soon what I find out. Thank you for the heads up!
