Popping popcorn prices

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the movies, with today’s opening of “Sex and the City.” If you head to the theater to catch this flick or any others, keep in mind that the price of popcorn is rising. That’s partly the reason why at least one theater chain, AMC Entertainment, has begun charging $1 more per ticket. It also has raised popcorn prices.

Check out this story for more details.

We don’t have AMC theaters in the Roanoke or New River valleys, but hopefully, we won't eventually see other theaters upping prices as well!

I hope not either. $7 for a large bag of popcorn at Carmike/Tanglewood. That's just RIDICULOUS. You can almost buy 6 bags of microwave popcorn for that! The last two times i've been there, the projectionist forgot to turn the video on in the theater, and of the 7-8 people working, only 1 was serving food, resulting in a line 15 deep. No wonder Netflix and home theater sales are through the roof!

Regal has upped their prices! The cheapest soda is $4!! And they stopped the law enforcement and student discounts.

Jenny, funny you should mention popcorn. I used to work in a movie theater and LOVE the stuff.

Now I have my own popcorn machine at home. They aren't too expensive ($200 and up).

Now we can enjoy our own movie theater popcorn at home. Still, every now and then, my kids still want me to buy the stuff they sell at the theaters. Oh well...

Wonder if I'm the only one who thinks the New Mill Mtn. Coffee Shop was designed and layed out by someone half/drunk?

The narrow most point in the place is where you place your order and pay, thereby blocking the flow of traffic from front to back.

My normal coffee and bagel which used to cost $2.55 is now 3.55. I know everything is going up but that's a hell of a increase, so I sure won't be helping them to pay for their new place!

And where is the Health code for employees clothes. The short dude with black hair and beard hasn't changed his pair of jeans since he's worked there, so it appears!

More people need to take advantage of the $1 dvd rental machines that some local Kroger stors have around here.

Its a bargain- $1 a day...and you don't have to sneak your booze into the theatre...lol.
