Dunkin Donuts brewing at Wilco Hess
You now can find Dunkin Donuts coffee in more places than just Dunkin Donuts. This coffee recently started brewing at some local Wilco Hess convenience stores.
You’ll find it at these locations: Brambleton Avenue in Roanoke County, Virginia Avenue in Vinton and Orange Avenue in Roanoke.
They’re all serving the hot coffee, but the Vinton location also is selling Dunkin Donuts’ iced java and tea.
But you’ll still have to go to Dunkin Donuts on Franklin Road in Roanoke for doughnuts. They haven't been added to the Wilco Hess selection.

Ed S.I love DD's iced coffee. Preparation is a bit spotty from person to person...but my wife and I are close to getting it right at home. With the DD-brand coffee (available in many supermarkets up here) it isn't hard to replicate it.
It's very addictive. :D

JennyEd, How do you make the iced coffee at home? Do you just brew Dunkin Donuts coffee and add ice? Do you add other ingredients? Making it at home is a good way to save money.

Ed S.Now Jenny, do you really expect me to release my secret formula?! Just kidding!
I've only tried it a few times, so I'm still perfecting the technique. But it's fairly simple. Get the DD bagged coffee you find in the store, brew it up. While it's brewing, make your sugar solution. Basically saturate a small amount of water with sugar. I do that because after the coffee is brewed, I chill it before I add the sugar and cream. Make sure the chilling method doesn't involve dumping ice in, because nobody likes watered coffee. :D After that, add the sugar and cream.
I'm still playing with chilling, sugar types, and cream. Not perfect, but very good. I'll still buy from DD once in a while...cause I can't make Bavarian Cremes in my oven! ;)

KathyYou can brew your coffee and then turn the coffeemaker off and let the coffee cool down. I've added the flavored liquid creamers and Splenda or SweetnLow and ice cubes and made a decent iced coffee that way. Jenny, I'll bet Lindsey Nair has some tricks up her sleeve, too!

Ed S.Kathy, this is America in the 21st century. According to TV, I need *instant gratification*. "Wait" for it to cool?! Oh my! :D
But one option I'm exploring is chilling in the fridge. Set the coffeemaker to auto, have it brew in the morning, and pop the delicious liquid into the fridge during my shower.
I can't do the artificial sweeteners (bad aftertaste...gastric effects). However, from what I've heard I suggest not using Equal. Some time ago (cooking show I believe) I heard that heat breaks down the compound, making it taste bitter. Supposedly you're not supposed to use it in "cooking".

JennyEd and Kathy, Thanks for sharing your ice coffee making secrets! Ed, I like your idea of sticking the coffee in the fridge for a short time, to get it to cool faster. I guess the freezer could work even quicker, too.

Backlash : →http://backlashg201@yahoo.comMy question, are these Donut's from the Roanoke area business?
I would really love to see an DD's in the Christiansburg area since leaving Florida I can't find a rivalry in my taste besides those offered at Kroger's, yet for personal reasons the Dunkin Donut's in Roanoke is off my list.
I would rather leave the area to get a dozen.

micheleThis is how you would make ice coffee....brew a pot of coffee with doubled grounds, pour over a couple cups of ice into a container,or you can add a couple cups of ice too a pot of coffee..don't forget u have too make the coffee stronger when brewing..good for 3 days in refig..add sugar and light crean or milk over ice than coffee.stir well or even melt the sugar alittle...this is the correct way too make iced coffee..D&D's uses light cream
