McDonald's rebuilding

mcdonalds.jpg

If the McDonald's on Williamson Road, across from the Roanoke Civic Center, is a regular stop for you, you might want to redirect your route for a few months. The fast food eatery with the golden arches has closed for rebuilding, and it’s slated to reopen by mid-November, according to Katrina Ford, a franchisee who owns this McDonald’s and one on Franklin Road in Roanoke.

A sign in front of the eatery directs customers to the Franklin Road restaurant.

This redesigned McDonald’s will have many of the elements of the chain’s new contemporary design, though it will not have a fireplace, Ford said. And she’s not sure yet whether it will have a flat screen television.

Several local McDonald's and some other fast food eateries have been rebuilt and redesigned in the last few years.

They can't direct them to the 460 location now. What bad timing.

Even when they complete the remodeling, it won't hide the fact that it's a McDonald's. They are bad, even for fast food.

I had to use the post office near the civic center the other day, must have been the day before they closed this location, and there were so many cars at the McDonald's drive thru that an employee arriving for work had to be dropped off by the person driving them at the curb outside the entrance.

While I don't eat their food and think it's nasty in many ways, they definintely don't lack for business, ever. For every person like me who won't eat there, there are 20 people who will happily scarf down anything on their menu.

And I don't mean to come off like a food snob, I eat plenty of stuff unhealthy for me at times.

Noting that the Franklin Rd. & Williamson Rd. locations are under the same franchise ownership, they're surely NOT going to direct potential customers to another McDonalds under different ownership. (Major sarcasm) Why would they care about the customer? That could be misconstrued as a form of customer service, and after all, there'll be none of that in 2008 !?!?!

Though for personal health reasons, I'm no longer a McDonald's customer, I personally boycotted these two locations following an incident when I discovered the owners attitude was actually worse then the employees. Now that's pretty bad...

I agree with all of you. That's why I only eat at the fast food places that sell only 100% healthly items on the menu and the owner meets me at the door to sing my favorite song as the well paid employees roll out the red carpet and fight to take my order.

OK in case you are only as bright as the posts you all left here, yes I am making fun of you. The title of this blog wasn't "Should you eat at Mcdonalds?"

I mean how dare an owner try to make money by letting you know where they have another store. How dare someone open a McDonalds and serve the menu items that have made McDonalds so successful through the years.

I can't wait until they reopen this location because I know you goof balls will not be in line in front of me and I can get my combo meal that much quicker at lunch time!

Easy Now! I just started eating at McDonald's again. They have a new grilled chicken sandwich that comes in with about 10 grams of fat (w/o mayo) and their parfait at 130 cal. and 2 grams of fat (w/o granola). I can deal with this, and my kids are happy too. Also, no tip!

Although they're overpriced, (I suppose to subsidise the $1.00 double cheeseburgers), McDonald's still has the best fast food Fish Sandwich in the industry. I just wonder, how did they stay .99 for SO many years, then jump up like they have?

For the record, the McDonald Grilled Chicken Sandwich has 1190 mg of salt (50% DV). Gotta watch out for the sodium, too!
