Local Steve & Barry's store will stay

I have good news if you’re a Steve & Barry’s shopper. This casual apparel chain won’t be closing its store at Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke County.

The company plans to shut down its Lynchburg store at Candlers Station, but the Roanoke Valley location will remain open, according to an email announcement from the New York-based retailer.

This news comes after BH S&B Holdings, an affiliate of two investment firms, announced that it was purchasing Steve & Barry’s out of bankruptcy. The company has decided to run the chain with a smaller number of stores. It’s reducing the stores to 170, from 276 locations before Steve & Barry’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July.

A store closing sale has begun at the Lynchburg store, though a closing date hasn’t been set.
