New Kroger fuel center opens this week
The time has come for the debut of Kroger’s new fuel center in Rocky Mount.
This station will open on Thursday adjacent to Kroger’s store at 400 Old Franklin Turnpike. It will sport 10 gasoline lanes.
It’s also the eighth Kroger fuel center in the Roanoke Valley.

Using my Kroger shopping points, I got gas for $1.94 a gallon at the Kroger in Vinton yesterday!!! They have the best price around $2.11. I think the bonus points are great!
Cheap gas!!no telling what quality o fuel you are receiving. Not worth it to me!!!
its the same 10% ethanol you get at shell and exxon, but cheaper. All the gas comes from the same refineries. If you bought gas with no ethanol, then maybe you’d have an argument, but paying 2.40$ at the exxon on 220 or 2.11$ at kroger in rocky mount for the same gas is a no brainer.
I’m always amused by those who think that ‘Shell gas’ and Exxon gas’ are somehow different than supposed ‘off-brand gas’.
It’s not like there’s a Shell refinery that ships to ONLY Shell stations, or an Exxon refinery, etc… Everything comes out of regional suppliers. Everything.
Get Consumer Reports to do a comparative analysis on ‘Shell’ gas, ‘Exxon’ gas, ‘BP’ gas, and all the discount marketers, and see what you discover.
There is a difference between 100% gasoline and gasoline mixed with ethanol, true. But gasoline is gasoline. Unless you’re comparing regular, premium, and ‘high-test’, then it’s all essentially the same…
The gas alone might be the same but the additives are different. There has to be something different about Sheetz gas and say Exxon or Shell or even Kroger. Every vehicle I have owned has gotten worse mileage off Sheetz. You might say I’m nuts but too many other people say the same thing. If someone can explain why to me I would like to know since their truck come out of the same terminal off 460 as most everyone else. I am 100% honest when I say my mileage is worse with Sheetz. Doesn’t effect my 05 Corolla as much as it did my 99 Tacoma. It went from 19 mpg to 14 mpg off sheetz. And if someone knows of a station local in Roanoke that still has 100% true gas please post. Ethanol is bad for older vehicles and I hear boat engines too.
Ethanol is only bad if you don’t know what you are doing. You don’t use ethanol in small engines like weedeaters and lawn mowers. In a car engine, because ethanol burns at a lower temparature, and decreases amount of combustion, it affects gas mileage. You can usually figure a 7% difference in mileage between regular 100% pump gas and 10% ethanol. so if you can find it for less than 7% more pricing, you come out ahead. Cannaday’s in Boones Mill has a sign out front that proudly displays “No Ethanol in our gas”, but few others do. Big companies like Sheets and Kroger make money on things other than gas, so they aren’t worried about prices being lower than competition. It has nothing to do with additives. Your oil companies are the ones adding all the additives like “Chevron with Techron”, and the consumer pays for it.
