Had Charles from Crock and Roll cater a work lunch today. The people were literally scraping the bottom of the serving piece. Expensive? No. Delicious? yes. Hey Roanoke, you get what you pay for. Charles and Bonnie have it going ON.

I, too, miss Howard’s Soup Kitchen–great food and such a neat, laid-back and unpretentious place. In fact, I was just telling my husband (who’s not from around here) about Howard’s Soup Kitchen the other day. We’ll have to check this one out. Wish there was a restaurant with this concept in Bedford, or at Smith Mountain Lake, also!

The Hoopers are a very innovative family, so I expect the atmosphere will be inviting and the soups and breads delicious.

I was just talking about Howard’s Soup Kitchen the other day. I miss them on a cold day – a cup of chili or chicken & dumplings with some fresh bread was a wonderful lunch. The carrot cake muffins were great, too!

Am I the only one who misses Howard’s soup kitchen in downtown? Their cheesy potato soup was fantastic.
