Today, I caught up with Denise Jones, who owns Cozy Corners, a gift and collectibles store that left Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke County recently.
Jones relocated the store to the New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg. That was a big move considering that she opened Cozy Corners at Tanglewood 12 years ago.
But Jones told me that slow shopping traffic at Tanglewood was the reason for her shift to Christiansburg.
She opened Cozy Corners on June 15 in the former Hibbett Sports space at the New River Valley Mall, where she said “traffic is really good.”
Goody’s and Steve & Barry’s closed their Tanglewood stores last year, but these retailers went out of business and shut down all locations nationwide.
Still, Cheeburger Cheeburger, a hamburger restaurant chain, closed its eatery in March, also citing slow Tanglewood traffic.
So, tell me, what do you think Tanglewood should do to spark shoppers’ interest?
