New Vinton craft shop to sell wool, hold classes
A blog reader who uses the screen name Malia asked last week about a new store in Vinton on N. Pollard Street called Wooly Belle.
I talked with Amanda Bishop, who with her mom Pam Bishop, opened the craft and arts store on Saturday.
The store sells wool for felting and their own work (hairbows, pillowcase dresses, and felted wool items like the doll pictured at left) and the work of other local artisans, including pottery.
The store will also host art/craft classes in stained glass, felting and more.
I’ll have more on the Bishops and their plans in this weekend’s Retail Roundup.

Will they have knitting classes? I’m trying to find a place to learn to knit.
@Kristen: They are holding a 4-week knitting class on Wednesday nights from 6 to 7 p.m. starting Jan. 18. It’s $25 for all four weeks plus the cost of materials. You can call the store at 400-6266 if you’re interested. Also, I believe Wyrd Sisters Yarn on Franklin Road offers classes.
you know…i can’t get enough wool in my life.thank god someone opened a store where i can get all the wool i need!!
Thanks Amanda. It’s my NY resolution, and Wyrd Sisters is a little closer. I’ll call them!
Just an FYI – Billy’s Barn reopens today after the first closed it for about 2 months..
**Fire** sorry
@ TJ: Thanks for letting us know. Here’s a link to a story about the fire for anyone who’s unfamiliar with what happened.
Yes finally I have been waiting for years for a wool shop to open in Vinton! It’ll make it so much easier when those times arise when I need wool immediately.
