The new Billy’s restaurant, formerly Billy’s Ritz, plans April opening
In case you missed this in the paper over the weekend, the old Billy’s Ritz restaurant in downtown Roanoke is set to open in April as Billy’s.
We’ve reported a few stories about the renovation of the old Billy’s Ritz building (most recently this story). I learned a little bit more about the new restaurant from the general manager, Colin Jones, who spoke at a Downtown Roanoke neighborhood meeting. He was mum on some details, including what’s on the menu and pricing.
Here’s what was published in the newspaper:
A new restaurant at the old Billy’s Ritz building in downtown Roanoke should be open by April, barring more construction delays, according to the new restaurant’s general manager.
The restaurant, called Billy’s, has been in the works since 2008, when restaurateur Roger Neel and attorney Neal Keesee bought the Salem Avenue building for $1.7 million. General manager Colin Jones said this week that the project has been delayed several times because of construction issues.
Billy’s was slated to open in December, but water issues pushed the opening back to January, and other recent complications have further delayed the project, Jones said.
He would not reveal details of the menu but said it would be simple and traditional. The second floor will be used as a banquet hall for private events, and the upper floors will be apartments.

Any news on the apartments when they will be leasing and the rent range?

@Scott: Unfortunately, I do not. The owners of the building never called me back when I wrote about the building last fall, and I called again last week seeking more details and haven’t received a return phone call. If I learn anything I’ll let you know.
