Trade Secret to close Valley View Mall location

Trade Secret, a store selling name-brand beauty and styling products, will close its Valley View Mall location on Thursday.

The store is owned by Premier Salons, which in 2010 filed for bankruptcy protection. At the time, the company operated 484 Trade Secret stores. It planned to close the under-performing stores when the leases at those locations ended.

It is unclear whether the bankruptcy contributed to the Roanoke store closing. The company did not return a phone call Monday, and Valley View Mall management doesn’t comment on store closings.

Trade Secret sells salon-quality beauty supplies such as shampoos, lotions,  nail polishes and cosmetics. Its products include the brands Redken, Paul Mitchell, Bed Head, and OPI.

The store also has a salon with one full-time stylist.

Products have been marked down 30 to 50 percent, and the store’s fixtures are for sale.

Hooray. Now we can have another blue CBL rental sign in the window for several months until another dollar or thrift store moves in! Because we desperately need more of those.

    ONE WORD…………….S E P H O R A………………..

That store should be at Valley View Mall, its everywhere else!!

Lets hope not Adam. From my understanding VV is trying hard to rid the mall of trashy stores and get more upscale ones. Now if we could get rid of some of the trashy teen bopper stores like Body Central and RUE 21 we would be in business!!!!!!!!!!

Again, Chris, teens are the lifeblood of a mall. The first step Tanglewood took at the beginning of its downward spiral was to try and get rid of all the teens. I’m all for VV’s “yep” policy, but no teens = no mall. Anyone who’s ever seen a John Hughes movie knows that.

I notice that a few people have been able to customize their avatar. Usually there’s an example you can click on when you post, but this board doesn’t seem to support that. Is there somewhere I need to sign up before I can get a custom avatar?

@Spiny: I used gravatar.com to create my avatar. Once you upload the photo you want to use it automatically follows you from site to site.

    Agree with you Jack- Sephora!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sephora probably needs a bigger space than that. Charlottesville is one of the smaller ones I’ve seen and it’s still substantially bigger.
