Floyd man seeking funds to start microbrewery

Floyd resident, Thomas Bailey, is looking for supporters to help him open up a local micro-brewery company. He’s started with a campaign on popular crowd funding site, www.kickstarter.com.
Beermaking started as just a hobby and now the work-from-home Internet project manager sees an opportunity to run a business, Bailey explained on a telephone interview.
Last summer Floyd’s Shooting Creek Farm Brewery closed. It was one of a handful of licensed brewers in the area.
Bailey wants to provide local beer to small restaurants in Floyd.
“I don’t have dreams of becoming another Dogfish Head or Sierra Nevada – I just want to make good beer for the residents of my community, all the good folks who visit our little mountain town each year, and steadily expand to Blacksburg, Roanoke and beyond,” he says in his campaign.
So far he’s raised about $2,700, his campaign will be active about another month. You can view Bailey’s campaign here.

LOVE it! Good luck!
WAIT just a minute! Am I hearing this. Donate money to me so I can start a brewery and all I need is $55,000. $55 from 1000 supporters. Now I love good micro brew and hated to see Shooting Creek close but at least they had a plan that was, from the beginning, sound, adequately funded and showed promise of success. This is like the old lady down at the market asking for your spare change. Worse that that, it appears to reflect the lack of a sound plan which cannot meet basic requirements to secure funds. OK, those evil big bankers don’t want to lend money today. We all know that story but still, get off the porch and get out looking for fianncing not pan handling the public. I object, none the less, I hope they are successful.
Are you starting up a brewpub or just trying to earn a margin selling beer paraphernalia? I wish you the best of luck and when you are up and running will gladly pay for a pint.
