A national Halloween costume retailer, Spirit Halloween, signed a temporary lease at Towers Shopping Center on the Colonial Avenue side of the center, next to FedEx Office.

Spirit Halloween leased 5,215 square feet and expect to open no later than September 10, said Sheryl Simeck, spokeswoman for The Rappaport Companies, which owns Towers.

According to its website, Spirit Halloween, is one the country’s leading seasonal Halloween retailers. They offer Halloween costumes and decor for babies, kids, teens and adults.

Where will you be shopping for your Halloween costumes this year?

A Halloween specialty shop is also opening in the former Nancy’s Candies spot at Lakeside Plaza in Salem.

Thanks for catching that for us! It has been updated.

    I won’t go there myself.

First, it’s a temporary store, they come to town, take our money and leave.  Nothing stays in the community.

    Second, their stuff is overpriced.

Third, people who do go there tear the costumes up…costumes are thrown all over the floor.

I have been going to Fun Times Party Warehouse in Salem for a number of years.  They have costumes year round along with better prices.  They also monitor what people do with the costumes so you won’t find them all over the floor.

They have a huge selection and I think we should support our local stores.

Fun Times in Salem has been around forever and it has better quality costumes at better prices.

Nancy’s closed in April, Chris. Nancy herself commented about it here: http://blogs.roanoke.com/fridgemagnet/2012/05/asian-market-in-roanoke-closes/#comment-37108. The stores in Floyd and Meadows of Dan are still open, according to their Web site.
