Mosaic Yarn shop opens in Roanoke

A Blacksburg yarn shop opened in Piccadilly Square in Roanoke this week.

Mosaic Yarn, has been a full-service knitting and crocheting shop for 10 years in Blacksburg at the Bonomo’s Plaza, said owner, Gina Bonomo.

Mosaic Yarn moved into the former, Wyrd Sisters yard shop, storefront. I wrote about Wyrd Sister’s store closing here.

The store will offer knitting and crocheting classes and support for those wanting to learn, Bonomo says. The store will also sell different materials for fiber art.

Bonomo says her mother, who is the owner of Bonomos women’s clothing store in Blacksburg, had a shop in Picadilly Square years ago. She also remembers buying yarn from a knitting shop in the same shopping center when she was a teenager. She said the new store “feels like family.”

She’s seen an increase in people interested in learning to knit, sew and crochet.

“Since everything is so technological now, I think people enjoy a hobby like this,” she said. “It’s just something special about making your own garment.”

The store will be open seven days a week.

10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturdays

1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sundays

So this has nothing to do with this article (though I am glad there is a new yarn shop), I noticed that someone is painting, fixing up Big Lick BBQ today, do you know what is happening there?
Also, what is happening with the new Italian place at Towers, I noticed the sign today, I thought they were suppose to open in August?

Welcome to the neighborhood, so glad you’re here. Can’t wait to take advantage of your yarns and expertise
